IMPLEMENTATION OF THE FOREIGN EDUCATIONAL PROJECT INTO THE PRACTICE OF UKRAINIAN SCHOOLS

The Ukrainian schools participated in the International Programme for Personal and Aesthetic Development “Visual Thinking Strategies” (VTS) in 1997, which was initiated by the Open Society Institute of George Soros (New York, USA) and the International Renaissance Foundation (Kyiv, Ukraine).

The Programme applies the art as a means for development of a child’s multiple visions of the world, of the dialogue style of communication with the artworks and with the people around. This takes place owing to the technology of purposeful collective discussions of the art at lessons in secondary schools and at studies in art museums.

JOINT CREATIVITY OF ART WORKERS AND SCHOOLS

Kyiv Municipal Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre for Children and Youth was established in 1982 and is the only musical theatre for children in Ukraine, having an analogue only in Russia. Interesting forms of educational work are practiced here: open pre-premiere viewing by the young spectators, spectators’ conferences, “Initiation into Spectators” at the beginning of seasons, a cycle of talks and tours according to the subject matter of art disciplines. The Theatre’s pedagogues scrutinize thoroughly the audience’s interests, analyse the perception of each performance, conduct “Days of Theatre at School”, organize exhibitions of children’s drawings, theatre placards, theatre costumes; joint meetings of Art Council, teaching staff, and parents are also held.
