Content of Arts Education in the Russian Federation

The art is a particular type of reflecting reality, its inherent structure and integrity. Throughout the entire history of human civilization, the arts have been the distinct tool to transmit inward experience of generations and are still indispensable and influential means of socialisation. The art as a form of social consciousness, a component of the mankind’s culture and a specific way of practical and emotional mastering the world bases on creative activity (producing works of art). That is why within the educational context the very process of creative activity and its results become the major criterions.



According to the pragmatic categorisation for educational purposes one can distinguish the following arts fields:

  • literature (poetry, prose; epics, lyrics, drama);
  • plastic and visual arts (fine arts, sculpture, architecture, design, applied decorative arts);
  • music (vocal, instrumental, vocal-instrumental);
  • choreography (folk, classical, modern, ball dancing);
  • theatre (music, drama, puppet, etc.);
  • photography;
  • cinematography (feature, documentary, animated cartoons, etc.);
  • folk arts (music and oral folklore, rites, artistic crafts, etc.).

Recently new art forms that are based on information and communication technologies –computer animation, computer design, electronic music (composition, improvisation, computer arrangement, etc.) and others swiftly develop and change educative practices.
