Children on the Opera Stage

"Children on the Opera stage” project was launched in 1998 and brought together students, teachers and parents altogether with the performing groups of Opera and Ballet Academic Theaters in different Russian cities (Perm, Samara, Moscow, Yoshkar-Ola).

Secondary school students get acquainted with the masterpieces of classic Russian operas during the music classes at their schools (“Boris Godunov” by M. Mussorgsky, “Prince Igor” by A. Borodin, “The Snow Maiden” by N. Rimsky-Korsakov and others). The students perform the fragments of operas, conduct, interpret and direct the musical opera pieces. The outcomes of these endeavors are the students’ involvement in the mutual operas’ performances alongside with professional performers on the stage.

The project successfully runs under the supervision of M.S. Krasilnikova, PhD in pedagogical science, a senior researcher of the Institute of Art Education, Russian Academy of Education, Moscow, Russia.

The project has received recognition on TV channel “Cultura”. The experimental work parts were the subject of the television show "The Black Holes. The White Spots” where it was called as "The Outrageous Experimentation” (2009).
