Music for Little listeners

Upon initiative of Hasmik Baghdasaryan, Concert Program Coordinator at Komitas Museum-Institute, and in the frameworks of the “2018 - European Heritage Days” and “2018 - European Year of Cultural Heritage” events, the “Baby Concert” was organized for kids up to 3 years old.

 

The great philosopher Aristotle believed that “music can certainly effect the ethical part of the human soul. And since music has such properties, it is obvious that it should be included in the list of subjects for youth education”. Nowadays, modern studies have shown that listening to properly selected music has a special positive impact on the development of a child. Music helps developing child's imagination, creativeness, as well as the ability to feel and to understand.

Given these considerations, the little audience was provided with the opportunity to listen to Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The string quartet "Prima" performed "A Little Night Serenade" and "Divertimento" by the great Austrian composer. As organizers planned, performers and their audience were placed on the same platform - the kids moved freely in the hall to the sound of music, got used to the sounds of unfamiliar musical instruments, tried to touch them, some continued to quietly play their games, some even napped on their pillows. The performance was excellent...

This new musical and educational project for the little listeners, initiated by Komitas Museum-Institute, might be long-lasting project with even more concert programs and initiatives.
