Musical instruments for future musicians

On February 3, 2016 the big hall of the Yerevan State College of Dance Art hosted a ceremony of handing over musical instruments to pupils of musical and art schools. The instruments were acquired in 2015 in the framework of the program “The acquisition of musical instruments for music and art schools in the country”.

From 2007 the Ministry of Culture has been implementing a program “Learning to play folk, brass and string instruments in music and art schools in the Republic of Armenia” during which classes of learning to play folk, brass and string instruments were reopened in a number of schools of the republic, as well as about 2400 students receive free musical instruments each year.

In 2013 during the study carried out by RA Ministry of Culture it turned out that the lack and depreciation of musical instruments have negative affect on the process of education.

To improve the situation in the same year there was launched the program “The acquisition of musical instruments for music and art schools in the country”. As part of the latter musical instruments are available to young and talented pupils of musical and art schools, as well as special classes and children from socially disadvantaged families. Distribution of musical instruments is based on the results of listening held in the musical and art schools of the republic by a number of leading experts as well as on the principle of proportionality of cultural education in the regions.

In 2013-2015 in the framework of the program there were purchased 271 musical instruments and given to 271 pupils of music and art schools.
