“Pomegranate seed” - a Theater Festival

15th National Children and Youth Theater Festival “Nran Hatik” (“Seed of Pomegranate”) once more gathered young “theatromans”, young actors and their fans. This year, the festival, which became popular in Armenia was held under the motto “Reborn”.

The festival was held with the initiative of the Cultural and Educational Association “Nakhabem” (“Backstage”) with support of Ministry of Culture.

Aesthetical and ethical education of the growing generation with the help of theatric art is the main objective of the organizers of the Festival. The festival intended to promotethe development and formation of traditions of children and youth theatric art, consolidate and coordinate the children's and youth theater groups to support the creation and establishment of new ones.

The performances took place at different stages of Yerevan - in Anania Shirakatsi Seminary, Avetik Isahakyan Central Library, cultural centers of Zeitoun and #5, Armen Tigranyan Musical School. This year's festival was attended by 30 theater troupes with 35 performances. Of these, six teams took part for the first time - Yerevan A.Khodjoyan Educational Center, Ashtarak P.Proshyan Primary School #3, Artik Cultural Center, and orphanage of Gavar town, Center of Spiritual Culture St. Stephanos of Abovyan town, as well as “Hayordats Tun” of Gyumri town. First time this year performances in “online” mode were included in the festival program.

Several troupes from cultural centers of Armenian diaspora from Middle East, which could not come because of the tense political situation, sent the videos of their performances.During the performances the halls were full. Young actors were warmly accepted, especially by their peers. Organizer’s dream is inclusion of the subject “Theatre” in scholar curriculum, the creation of a theatric college. For 25 years, as a subject of “Theatre” has been taught at the Anania Shirakatsi Seminary.
