On May 28-31, 2015 under the auspices of RA First Lady Rita Sargsyan and with the support of RA Ministry of Culture the “Cultural Workers’ Association” NGO is going to hold “New Names” 5th International Festival of Young Musician-Performers.


This year the festival is dedicate to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide and will be held under the title “I Remember and Demand”.

Deputy Minister of Culture Artur Poghosyan mentioned that “New Names” International Festival gives children an opportunity to communicate with each other and with peers form foreign countries obtaining new knowledge and approaches.

As mentioned the head of the project, President of the Association of Cultural Workers, Honored Figure of Culture Silva Melikyan there is a huge rise in the sphere of youth art in Armenia.  “Our children are the future of our culture. The best way to introduce yourself to the world is the art. And in this context “New Names” festival is the best platform to discover talented young musicians” said Silva Mekinyan.

 The Festival is supported by the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra and the Armenian National Chamber Orchestra. The sponsor and general partner of the Festival is VivaCell-MTS. Young musicians (maximum age 18 years) from Armenia, Russia, the USA, Germany, Japan, China, Australia and Georgia take part in the Festival.

Many of the participants are multiple winners of national and international festivals and scholarships. The opening ceremony of the festival will take place on May 28, 2015 at the Opera and Ballet National Academic Theatre after A. Spendiaryan. The young musicians will perform with the Armenian Philharmonic Orchestra conducted by Harutyun Arzumanyan. On May 29-30 the young musicians will give a solo concert at Komitas Chamber Music Hall. On May 31, 2015 the closing ceremony of the Festival with the participation of the young soloists and the Armenian National Chamber Orchestra will be held at Komitas Chamber Music Hall.

The Festival will also include cultural program for the participants /visits to Mother See of Holly Etchmiadzin and cultural places and monuments of Yerevan.
