In March, 1958, upon the decision of the Government of Armenia, the Choral Society of Armenia was founded then, later, in 1987, renamed to Musical Society of Armenia.

Upon initiative of Hasmik Baghdasaryan, Concert Program Coordinator at Komitas Museum-Institute, and in the frameworks of the “2018 - European Heritage Days” and “2018 - European Year of Cultural Heritage” events, the “Baby Concert” was organized for kids up to 3 years old.

Lilit Makunts, Minister of Culture of Armenia, and Arayik Harutyunyan, Minister of Education and Science of Armenia, announced the launch of two important initiatives that have already come truth. These initiatives unify two domains: the system of school subscription to the cultural events and the program "Your Own Art at School".

With the support of the RA Ministry of Culture and the assistance of he National Philharmonic Orchestra of Armenia, the 8th Annual International Festival of Young Musicians-Performers "New Names" took place in Yerevan on June 2-5, 2018.

With the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Armenia, the Fifth Republican Contest of Young Composers after Edward Mirzoyan was held in Yerevan on May 10-12. The organizers of the competition were the Union of Composers of Armenia and the Yerevan Municipality.
From now on, every visitor of Alexander Spendiaryan House-Museum in Yerevan, regardless young or adult, can collect his/her own virtual symphony orchestra, or choose a work from the list of popular symphonic canvases and conduct it.

From August 15 to 26 of this year the Composers Union of Armenia held a music camp for young Armenian and Georgian musicians and performers in the Composers’ House named after E.Mirzoyan in Dilijan.

With the support of the Ministry of Culture of the RA and upon the initiative of the Yerevan Special Music School after P.Tchaikovsky and the conservatory of the Roman France, Armenian – French children's orchestra took place in France and Switzerland from June 30 to July 9.

From 17 to 24 of June, the 4-th international contest festival of junior and young pianists after Arno Babajanyan took place in Yerevan.

The history of adoption of Christianity by Armenia in 301 as a state religion is associated with the name of Gregory the Illuminator, who became the first Catholicos of the Armenian Church (302-306).
Museum-Institute named after Komitas offers educational programs for school children and other age and social groups.

On September 21 the Sport Concert Complex after Karen Demirtchyan was festively decorated. The public was harrying to the concert on the occasion of the 25th Anniversary of the Republic of Armenia.

Vienna met young Armenian and Russian musicians with bright sunny weather. Old friends – members of the “New Names” program of both Armenia and Russia, met at the Vienna International Airport.
Under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Armenia in May 2016 the concerts of the Armenian-French Orchestra took place in Armenia. The organizers of the project were Yerevan Secondary Specialized Music School After Peter Tchaikovsky and Romans Conservatory of France.

On February 3, 2016 the big hall of the Yerevan State College of Dance Art hosted a ceremony of handing over musical instruments to pupils of musical and art schools. The instruments were acquired in 2015 in the framework of the program “The acquisition of musical instruments for music and art schools in the country”.
Another concert in the framework of the ongoing project “We and Our Region”, which was held by the support of Fund for Cultural Education Support took place in Artashat State Dramatic Theater named after Amo Kharazyan.

15th National Children and Youth Theater Festival “Nran Hatik” (“Seed of Pomegranate”) once more gathered young “theatromans”, young actors and their fans. This year, the festival, which became popular in Armenia was held under the motto “Reborn”.

These lines of Marina Tsvetayeva precisely and accurately define the main feature of the representative group of bowed stringed instruments - to touch the soul with its unique thick timbre,pass trembling senses with its expressive melodic language.
For more than four decades, the words of the popular song have beenserving as a mottofor oneof the most prestigiouseducational institutions among those providing secondary musicalprofessional education inArmenia. Beingfounded in1967, State Musical-pedagogical school, there in after reversed to college, was named after the classic of Armenian music of the twentieth century-Arno Babajanyan.
In recent yearsdue to the efforts of the college, six national competitions for young pianists after Arno Babajanyan were organized. Many of the winners already have international prizes, and two of them-Arus Achemyan and Lilit Grigoryan, winners of the Youth Award of the President of the Republic of Armenia in the sphere of instrumental performance.
This year the summer weekdays of Yerevan State Musical and Pedagogical College named after Arno Babajanyan were again filled up with music of the great composer. More than a hundred young pianists from Armenia, Russia, Kazakhstan, Georgia and China took part in the third international competition festival for young pianists named after A. Babajanyan.
For the youngestparticipants -participants of the first(up to10 years) and second(11-15 years) age groups of youth the Contest-Festival was held in one-tour format with an obligatory inclusion of performance of one of the piano works by A.Babajanyan. The participants of the youth group (15-18 years) were given the opportunityto performin twophases, with the mandatory program-VirtuosoEtudes,the first part ofthe classicalsonata, worksof a composerof nationality of the participant, works by a 20th century composer, works upon the participant's choice, and of course, works by Arno Babajanyan.
The international jury judged the Competitive performances. Professor of the Rostov State Conservatory named after Sergei Rachmaninov, Honored Artist of the Republic of Mordovia, Ph.D. Vladimir Orlovsky, Professor of the Tbilisi State Conservatory named after V.Saradzhishvili, Head. of the piano department of the Central Music School Paliashvili Alexander Garber, Professors of Yerevan State Conservatory after Komitas, Vice-Rector of teaching department Vagharshak Harutyunyan, Anahit Bogdanyan, winners of international competitions: the dean of the piano faculty, Honored Artist of the Republic of Armenia Armen Babakhanyan, Head of Piano Department Suren Zakaryan, director of the Aram Khachaturian’s House-Museum Armine Grigoryan and teacher of special middle music school named Ahmed Zhubanov Gulzhamila Muhametdinova were members of that honored jury.
At the opening ceremonyof the contest-festival, Minister of Education Armen Ashotyan in his opening speech said: "I am very pleased that gathering together on the third time in this contest-festival, we discover new talents. In my opinion, education and culture are two inseparable phenomenons. Culturalman must beeducated, and educated must becultural. The current contest-festival is a “juicy shock" for the culture, and I hope that everyone will benefit from this "shock".

On May 28-31, 2015 under the auspices of RA First Lady Rita Sargsyan and with the support of RA Ministry of Culture the “Cultural Workers’ Association” NGO is going to hold “New Names” 5th International Festival of Young Musician-Performers.
