Musical instruments for young musicians

A ceremony of donating musical instruments to the students of music and art schools took place in the Large hall of Yerevan’s Secondary Special Music School after P. Tchaikovsky on March 9th this year.

The instruments had been purchased in 2016 in the framework of "Acquisition of musical instruments for music and art schools of the Republic" program. The ceremony was preceded by a performance of young musicians. The school’s variety band and students of regional musical institutions greeted the guests.

The most honorable guest of the ceremony was the Minister of Culture of Armenia Mr. Armen Amiryan. He attended the event to personally pass the instruments to the recipients. So, the folk instrument “Tar” went to a student of Byureghavan’s art school and the “Tuba” went to a student of Secondary Special Music School after P. Tchaikovsky. Since 2007 the Ministry of Culture of Armenia has been organizing the “Learning to play folk, woodwind and string musical instruments in music and art schools of Armenia” program. Thanks to that program, special classes of folk, woodwind and string musical instruments were reopened in various music schools and about 2400 students receive free musical education each year. During the period of 2013 and 2016 in the framework of the mentioned program 312 musical instruments have been purchased and passed to the recipients.
