Now this wonderful island, located on the crossroads of Europe, Asia and Africa has its own “New Names”.

Well-known conductor, conservatorium professor Alain Kirkop headed the Maltese fund. The Maltese concerts of young artists from 3 countries, held by the European Fund for Cultural support took place under the patronage of president of Marie Louise Coleiro Preca.  She arranged a reception in honor of the young musicians in presidential palace San-Anton, and visited the first concert evening.

Mrs. Coleiro Preca highlighted the importance of music in education of rising generation and creative potential of every child. After the performance of Armenian duduk player and singer, the President expressed her sincere desire to visit Armenia.

“Nowadays there is a boost of musically gifted children in Armenia. They need nothing than playing music. That’s their life, they breathe with music”- said the founder and leader of New Names of Armenia project, honored artist of Armenia Silva Mekinyan. “They need careful treatment, all stages should be open for them, and we must be proud and happy of them. And the most important, they have to travel more frequently. It is not a co-incident that children come back home more and more mature, travel by travel. We are moving forward also because “New Names” of Armenia project is under the patronage of the Armenia’s first lady Mrs. Rita Sargsyan. She always expresses interest our work and understands well our progress. It is necessary and important for the project, as well as for Armenia’s future. The future of each country depends on its growing generation.”

The concerts of young performers from Russia, Armenia and Malta were successful. They’ve enjoyed applauds in the Parliament of Malta, Embassy of Russian Federation, Ministry of Gozo Island and the Russian cultural center.
