Armenian duduk in the homeland of Mozart

A group of young Armenian performing musicians - students of music and arts schools of Yerevan and other regions, had a concert tour in Austria. The tour was organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Austria with the assistance of the Fund for Support of Cultural Education of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Armenia (Director of the Fund is Nelli Sargsyan-Martirosyan). Concerts were dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Armenia.

The first concert of young soloists took place in Salzburg, the hometown of the great composer Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. The concert was organized by the efforts of the Armenian community of Salzburg. The cultural delegates of Armenia were warmly welcomed by the audience in the hall of festivities of the local church Pfarramt Lehen. The exciting sounds of the duduk performance by 9-year-old Gevorg Stepanyan, as well as the sounds of other instruments performed by his friends will certainly remain in the memory of the audience for a long time.

Afterwards, a series of concerts and performances continued in Vienna. Young soloists took part in a solemn event organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Austria at the Mchitarsten Congregation of Vienna. The event was dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of the Republic of Armenia. The final concert of the tour of the young musicians was held in the Palais Eschenbach - in the hall of "Haus der Ingenieure". Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Armenia to Austria Arman Kirakosyan and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Austria to the Republic of Armenia Alois Kraut and many other guests attended the concert.

During the stay of young Armenian musicians in Vienna, a series of special Master classes, organized upon the initiative of the Armenian Embassy, provided them with an opportunity to meet our renowned compatriots living in the Austrian capital. In the frameworks of those Master classes, the famous opera singer and People's Artist of Armenia Hasmik Papian, as well as two laureates of international contests, pianist Nareh Arghamanyan and violinist Emmanuel Tcheknavorian, shared some secrets of performance skills with their "younger colleagues".
