The House-Museum marks its Semi-Centenary Jubilee

On November 28th of this year, with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Armenia, the Chamber Music House named after Komitas hosted a jubilee evening on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Yerevan’s first Music Museum -  Alexander Spendiaryan House-Museum.

 

The evening started with a cocktail-presentation of the book "The First Musical Museum of Armenia" in the foyer of the hall. The author of the book, who presented activities of the institution, is the director Marina Otaryan, and the editor is Artsvi Bakhchinyan. Minister of Culture of Armenia Mr. Armen Amiryan, the Director - founder of the museum Mr. Vladilen Balian, Patriarch of Armenian composers, Honored Artist of the Republic of Armenia greeted the guests.

Soloists of the National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater named after Alexander Spendiaryan, a choir and ensemble of folk instruments of a special music school named after the composer, performed at jubilee concert. The jubilee event ended with performance of string quartet named after Aram Khachaturian.

At present, the House Museum of the great Armenian classic, the founder of Armenian symphonic music is one of the most favorite corners of the capital guests, and just music lovers. Every year on November 1, on the great composer birthday, all the first-class children of the first musical school in Yerevan, the special musical school named after Alexander Spendiaryan, come to the museum to visit Alexander Afanasevich. At the doorstep in the House Museum they "young Spendiarist" take an oath, and the most gifted student among them, a little pianist is honored to play on the composer's old “Bechstein". After a remarkable tour around Spendiaryan's cozy apartment, first-class students with great pleasure got involved in the “virtual conductor” game. And the adults, who accompanied them, were invited to a cup of cocoa, made by Alexander Afanasievich special recipe by the employees of the House Museum.
