The city day

 The city dayYerevan turned 2797 years old. Capital celebrated it’s birthday with numerous festive events that were held in the city, lined up across the various venues - theater performances, concerts, art exhibitions in the open air.

Since morning, the citizens had been anticipating a festive atmosphere. On the streets and squares of the city were unfolded nationwide festivities. Everywhere, mainly on North Avenue, shining faces of residents of Yerevan.


Here was presented the new collection of piano pieces entitled "Old and new Yerevan". Authors of the project have created a collection of piano arrangements of old and new songs of the hometown, and it was dated for the birthday of Yerevan. The concert program included not only piano transcription, but popular songs by Aram Khachaturian, Artemy Ayvazyan, Arno Babadjanian, Konstantin Orbelyan, Alexander Achemyan, Alexander Dolukhanyan and Ruben Hakhverdyan, Levon Malkhasyan and Forsch. The performers were young musicians - students of Yerevan Arno Babajanyan musical-pedagogical college.

Gala concert ended with anthem of Yerevan - the song by Edgar Hovhannisyan to the words of Paruyr Sevak’s "Erebuni-Yerevan".
