Gyumri is inviting

The main objective of the International Festival “Renaissance” conducted annually in Gyumri since 2007 is to support the promotion of classical music, to establish new creative and friendly relations among the performing musicians of different nationalities, to familiarize foreign musicians with Armenian culture and to enable them to present their skills and national culture properly.

Sixth international festival “Renaissance” will be held on April 10-19. It is dedicated to the 135th anniversary of great Armenian composer, the founder of the first national opera, Armen Tigranian.

Various music competitions will be held within the framework of the festival on April 11-17. According to the organizing committee, about 2,700 musicians from 33 countries will take part. Contestants will perform in five age groups in 11 categories.

The juries of the competitions are well known performers, famous musicians, such as winners of international competitions, pianists, Professor of the University of Arkansas, pianists Yuri Margulis and Mikhail Mordvinov, Honored Artist of Russia, cellist Leo Evgrafov, People's Artist of the USSR, the opera singer Zurab Sotkilava, composer and musicologist Evgeniy Kostitsyn (USA), conductor Bardia Kiaras (Iran) and others.

The festival will feature the 8th Symposium “Dialogue of Cultures. Armenia and world culture.” A meeting of rectors of different conservatories around the world is also scheduled.

Organizers of the festival are Pan-Armenian Fund of Human Resource Development “Pyunik”, Gyumri branch of Yerevan State Conservatory, with the support of RA Ministry of Culture and the City Hall of Gyumri.
