Ashtarak is one of the oldest cities of Armenia. It is located on the banks of the Kasakh river. The name is associated with love and homesick in the “Swallow”- a popular Armenian song by an Armenian wanderer-pandukht, with the lyrics by Gevorg Dodohyan.
The Fund for Cultural Education Support celebrates its tenth anniversary. Ten years ago, in 2008, the Fund was established due to the efforts of a group of cultural personalities.
Ijevan Music school №2 in Tavush Province of Armenia turned 20 years in 2018. Here, people love and honor traditions, and that is why the school proudly bears its name “Avanduyt”, which means “Tradition” in Armenian.
A group of young Armenian performing musicians - students of music and arts schools of Yerevan and other regions, had a concert tour in Austria. The tour was organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in Austria with the assistance of the Fund for Support of Cultural Education of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Armenia (Director of the Fund is Nelli Sargsyan-Martirosyan). Concerts were dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Armenia.
On November 28th of this year, with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Armenia, the Chamber Music House named after Komitas hosted a jubilee evening on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of the founding of the Yerevan’s first Music Museum - Alexander Spendiaryan House-Museum.
Yerevan State musical-pedagogical college recently turned 50 years old. All incepted in 1967, when a musical school, the second in Yerevan, opened its doors in the northern part of the city.
The music festival, titled “Terteryan’s time”, was named after one of the most authentic and interesting Armenian composers of the twentieth century - Avet Terteryan.
On the International Children's Day, an original exhibition was opened in the museum of the great Hovhannes Tumanyan. The best works of young artists - students of art and arts schools of the republic, were exhibited.
On the 9th of May, 2017, a solemn awarding ceremony and a gala concert of the 9th National Competition of Children and Youth Choirs ‘’Singing Armenia’’ took place in the concert hall after Aram Khachaturian. The competition, which started on 25th of March, was held with support of the Ministry of Culture of Armenia.
Yerevan’s Art school after Lazar Saryan turned 45 years.
45 years ago, the opening of an art school in Zeytun district of Yerevan pursued the important purpose of providing art education for young generation from the remote area from the city center.
10 musicians from Armenia, Russia, France, Malta arrived in Moscow for taking part at this concert. The concert on the occasion of the 25th Anniversary of Armenia's independence titled “Little Treasures of Armenia”, took place in the Festive hall of the Armenian Apostolic Church in Moscow on September 23.
Anniversary events of Yerevan’s Music School named after S. Jrbashyan took part in the Chamber Music Hall named after Komitas, opened with a festive concert by young singers-soloists of the school and National Chamber Orchestra of Armenia.
The celebration of the tenth anniversary of the State Youth Orchestra of Armenia began in Yerevan’s "Moscow" cinema with displaying the documentary “The Voice of the Orchestra”.
Yerevan turned 2797 years old. Capital celebrated it’s birthday with numerous festive events that were held in the city, lined up across the various venues - theater performances, concerts, art exhibitions in the open air.

Beginning – September 1929... According to the decision of the Committee on the public education of the Soviet Republic an initial department with its 60 students was separated from the newly established Conservatory and first children's four-year specialized musical school was based in Yerevan.
This is the second time upon the initiative of the Union of Composers of Armenia and with the support of the Ministry of Culture of Armenia the Contest of Young Composers named after Edward Mirzoyan took place in Yerevan.
The school was founded in 1965 and initially operated as a branch of the Kanaker Music School after Anushavan Ter-Ghevondyan. Since 1966 it has been functioning as an independent seven-yearmusic school, the first principal became Viktoria Movsisyan.
The fact that Yerevan State Choreographic College marks its 90th anniversary impresses itself, because this esteemed age allows to recon it among the number of the oldest educational centers of Armenia.
RA Ministry of Culture continues to implement its policy of active cooperation with cultural organizations and educational institutions of the regions and capital of our country.
Events, exhibitions, concerts create favorable conditions for the development of skills of gifted children and youth, providing with the possibility to establish contacts with different specialists in this field. This is also a good platform for the experience exchange and strengthening of cultural links between the regions.
